In his landmark Pompidou Center, Renzo Piano took building services like plumbing and ductwork—typically hidden away in a core—and banished them to the facade as architectural decor. My client, the Times, was open to returning the favor by bringing Piano’s calibrated facade indoors, creating furniture and interiors that reflect the Times’ identity.
